Voyages of Discovery. Come on a trip around the world in one Saturday to meet the explorers and pioneers who have pushed the boundaries of our settlements through the ages. Why did they do it? What did they find? What was the life of an explorer like?

Saturday 12th December
Santa’s Solar System Solution. Santa’s elves need a long year, his reindeers want snow and Santa needs a long enough day to deliver all those presents. Can you help Santa find the perfect planet to set up his grotto?

Saturday 9th January
It’s a Small World. Become a Biologist for a morning and work in a laboratory to investigate the building blocks of life. Use scientific equipment to examine the microscopic world of cells. What do they really look like? How do they work?

Saturday 16th January
A religious Journey with a Difference! Have your passport ready as we ‘take off’ to be a Pilgrim one Saturday morning. We shall be visiting a special ‘Holy Place’. Come and find out what it is like to be a Pilgrim. Why do people go on a Pilgrimage? Where do Pilgrims visit? What do Pilgrims do at special sites?

Saturday 30th January
Art in Different Cultures. Come and explore sculpture and masks from different cultures. Join our exciting print workshop based on your discoveries.

Saturday 6th February
Marvellous Metals. We will look at why metals are so important for us in our everyday lives, and why some metals are more valuable than others. Why do we make jewellery out of gold, but not bridges and cars? Sodium is found in salt and calcium is in our bones but they both react in water! Why is this?
 
Session # 9
Saturday 27th February
Fun Mathematics from around the World! Not everyone around the world learns Mathematics in the same way. Come along and try new methods to make calculations easier and try some Mathematical games from around the world!
 
Session # 10
Saturday 5th March
Visit some of Literature’s Imaginary Lands! Let’s explore wardrobes, rabbit holes and station platforms. Just don’t wear red shoes or we might end up being ‘blown away’ by the subject!
 
Session # 11
Saturday 12th March
An Interactive Journey around the World. Create and play an exciting game with the whole world as your playground. Navigate the perilous waters, collecting gold as you make your way back home.
Session # 12
Saturday 19th March
Making the (International) News. Make the news by writing the bulletins and reporting from locations around the world, using the multi-media room to place you on location. Have you got a steady nerve to keep the world informed?

Baking Bonanza! Join us to make bread and use your loaf to investigate how we can use micro-organisms in the kitchen
